Lake Temagami, the lake of deep waters, and its surrounding pine forest is world renowned for its canoe routes. Beginning in 1904 when the railway reached the area, canoeists have been travelling to this classic Canadian Shield region to experience its beauty. With 4000 sq. miles of canoe country encompassing the internationally recognized Lady Evelyn Smoothwater Wilderness Park the huge web of lake and river canoe routes is unprecedented. Our location is unique and offers the best and easiest access to this canoe country. Paddle from our dock. There is no need for shuttles or long open water paddles.

Being one of the last true wilderness areas within a day's travel from southern Ontario and the USA the area has a beauty unlike anywhere else in Ontario. With virtually the same size as Algonquin Park and with only a fraction of the number of people it is still possible to find true solitude in Temagami. Wanapitei Canoe's history of paddling in the Temagami Region is now almost 70 years old.

Our long history of guiding and outfitting canoe trips in the region means we are uniquely qualified to help you plan your canoe trip. We offer a full range of services from completely outfitted and guided canoe trips to route consultation and canoe or equipment rental for self-guided trips. In addition, the Wanapitei Chateau located beside our rental centre is an historic log canoe trippers lodge offering meals and accommodation at each end of your canoe trip.
